One of the images the Bible uses for the Church is that of a human body which is made up of different parts each with it's own unique contribution to the whole.
There are those whose particular contribution is to lead the BCC community of faith whether in adminstration, children's work or in an governing and decision making capacity. This section is about the leaders in particular.
The Elders
We see the primary role of the elders as being committed to caring for the members of the church community, teaching them to obey the Word of God, and influencing members ot discover and fulfill the general and specific call of God on their lives.
The Deacons
We see the primary role of deacons to support the elders by carrying responsibilty for various 'service' areas in the day to day life of the church community. This may include making decisions with the elders, maintaining organisational structures for the proper functioning of the congregation and communicating who we are in the wider communities we are connected with.
The Trustees
This group has a legal responsibility for the overall management and decision making of the charity and is focussed on the performance and direction of the charity. Legally, this group is ultimately responsible for the work of the charity, to ensure it is meeting it's objectives, and that it is able to sustain it's work.
Although we do not like formal titles for leaders who have been primarily called to serve God, we do use them to recognise the different roles they have in the life of the church community.
